Happy Winter Solstice! Also called the Longest Night, the Solstice is tonight for the Southern Hemisphere. Originally a Pagan and Celtic night of festivity, Yule, as it is named in those cultures, symbolises the rebirth of the Sun in contest of the moon and to celebrate the return of the Sun. Yule represents the merriment and the brightness after the resilience from darkness. My newest collection serves as a reminder to embrace the ever-changing moods and emotions that accompany the shifting season
I wanted to celebrate by showing off some behind the scenes to my newest, unnamed collection… inspired by Mood Rings! Which are coming soon...
Remember mood rings? Those crazy, changing rings that were one of the biggest 90s trends that were absolutely everywhere but suddenly disappeared? This new collection will be an elevated, adult version of mood rings- fun, mysterious, and reveal your mood.
Like the Solstice itself, mood rings are a reflection of the balance between light and darkness, and how the world, and our feelings change according to the seasons. I’ve planned for this collection to be a selection of necklace pendants and rings that sit close to your skin to activate the thermotropic liquid crystals in the stone so the magic can happen.
I am busy crafting these pieces in Sterling silver and 9k yellow gold. Each piece showcases a unique colour-changing stone that I have had made in the USA. Each stone transforms with the wearer's emotions, revealing a spectrum of hues, from calming blues to passionate, energetic reds. There’s quite a lot in the works, and I can’t wait to show you all.
