Opal Love

All our opals are 100% Australian and ethically mined. Each piece of opal jewellery is handmade with love and care in Sydney, Australia by Hayley of Serpent & the Swan.

Opal is known as the "Eye Stone." Like lightning in a rainbow, it flashes its brilliance with even the slightest movement. In Aboriginal culture, opals are regarded as sacred stones, with each one possessing a unique story or Dreamtime legend, representing the creation of the world and the stories of the ancestors.

Opal intensifies emotions and releases inhibitions, encouraging both freedom and independence. Whether you're drawn to the fiery brilliance of fire opal or the subtle beauty of white opal, each piece in our collection is a one-of-a-kind treasure handcrafted in Sydney.

Our stones come from two fields in roughly equal measure: Lightning Ridge in northern New South Wales, the world's premier source of black opal, and Coober Pedy in South Australia for white and crystal opal. Every stone is cut in Australia by specialist cutters before it reaches our bench and is set into solid 9ct gold or sterling silver. Opal is softer than diamond or sapphire and holds a trace of water, so we talk through setting and everyday wear with you. More on our Australian opals page.
