Happy Lunar New Year and Happy Birthday to all February Swans! The month of the Amethyst and many celebrations, the end of February here in Australia. The month also marks the start of a two week long celebration in Asian countries for the Year of the Tiger!
As we arrive at the end of the Lunar New Year celebrations, with the 14th day symbolising family and reunion, it is often also the time of remembrance. It is celebrated with a family meal and the lighting of lanterns to represent the coming of the full moon. This year’s Zodiac sign is the Tiger, a fierce, brave animal representing courage and challenge. The Lunar New Year is a sign of change and a good way to reflect on life since 2022 - just what the doctor ordered!
February is also the month of the Amethyst, a carrier of spiritual power in the act of healing. Wearing the stone is said to bring the wearer peace and stress relief, as well as a sense of balance. It is said that just looking at the stone brings a sense of calm and soothes tension. Amen to that! Famous for its purple shades, Amethysts have been used in jewellery for over 2000 years, also known as the stone of royalty due to the traditional connotations of the colour purple.
I love using amethyst in my pieces, not only as a birthstone but for pieces like the Burn my Heart pendant, now also available as a Ring! The design allows a small window behind each setting of the stone, allowing shafts of light to shine through the multi-faceted stone, creating violet reflections on you. Amethyst is so much more exciting in the flesh!
Happy Birthday to all February Swans, and Happy Lunar New Year to you all!
Much love,
Hayley xx
