I don't do Black Friday & the winner is ......

I don't do Black Friday, so I did a giveaway instead, because every piece I make is made for order and not mass produced. There is no extra stock because everything is made with love and with intention. I won't go into all the waste / landfill that comes post Black Friday too. So to celebrate the month of November outside of its typical holidays, I decided to giveaway TWO of my Citrine ☀️Heart Shaped Padlocks! Citrine, named after the citrus fruit but also known to be a ‘gift from the sun’.

The giveaway was full of positivity and happiness for the arrival of summer, especially with borders reopening soon. It was great to hear everyone’s heartfelt responses and their relationship with the sun! Thank you to everyone who took the time and participated in my giveaway!

There were so many wonderful answers, but here were the winning entries:

the sun means stability. It always rises and sets, it’s a constant. To me it symbolises steadiness and strength.

To me, the sun is a symbol of my gorgeous friend Emma, who is always excitable, warm, and happy. With her blonde hair and Cheshire Cat grin she is just like my own human sun ☀️

I loved reading everyone’s different responses, so I thought you might want to read some too! Thank you again to everyone who participated and continue to support Serpent and the Swan! Keep reading on for ALL answers:

I love that you don’t do Black Friday. You shouldn’t and is not a strategy that you should employ nor is it brand strategy that is consistent with the work of an artisan that creates bespoke pieces of art.

But this post inspired me to write my own meaning of the sun… just because…

The sun is my access point to the centre of my heart chakra. It is the reminder that the light and warmth of my love is ever present and able to grow and extend outwards at the mere thought of it. Like the sun, my love can grow to cover the whole planet and indeed the universe.
The moon does the same thing but permeates my being inwards as a form of nourishment at a cellular, perhaps even sub atomic level.
Neither of these gateways to love in my heart knows time or space.
I can send it out to my parents who are no longer on this plane or to the child that was me years ago.
It is thoroughly magnificent.
