It's time I explain myself!

It's time I explain myself!

"I don't use gold plating, coloured glass or cubic zirconia, and I don't manufacture offshore."
Here's why...

I fell in love with jewellery making when I struggled to find accessories that matched the vision of my clothing brand by the same name, Serpent & the Swan, around 6 years ago. Eventually falling out of love with fashion, I followed my heart's compass to silversmithing. My collection is inspired by antiques, mediaeval jewellery, symbols and the natural world.

Every bespoke piece in the Serpent & the Swan collection is devotedly handmade by me, Hayley, in my studio in Sydney. My metal and stone sourcing is all Australian, and my jewel setter is based locally too. Meaning, I don't use computer-aided design systems that are sent offshore to be made in bulk.

I've always believed in a slow approach to fashion, which carried through to my jewellery brand. Every piece is made to order, not only for sustainability but so that every item is unique in character. Made especially for and tailored to you.

S & S pieces are designed to be loved and to become the heirlooms of tomorrow. This is why I only use fine materials: 9ct Solid Gold and Sterling Silver. Even so, the stones  I use are ethically sourced from local stone merchants here in Sydney. I don't do plating because I design my jewellery to be worn every day.

They can be worn when taking a bath with a glass of wine, when diving into an ocean pool or going out all night. Year after year, they will witness your life, become a part of you, and be something to cherish and pass on.

Custom consultations are held in my workshop, where the magic happens, and visitors are always welcome. Studio 14, 43-53 Bridge Road, Stanmore NSW 2048

True luxury is the investment in unique pieces that will last you a lifetime.
This is jewellery for the non-ordinary.

Much love,

Hayley
