Last week was International Women’s Day. Here at Serpent and the Swan, we decided to host a giveaway to celebrate all the amazing and inspiring women in our lives. Our 100% female team wanted to give back to all the women that inspire and motivate us!
Our giveaway included naming women who inspire our audience, and some of these responses really blew us away! The overwhelming amount of comments were thought-provoking and showed the stories of compassionate, exhilarating women who elevate and empower women to be the best versions of themselves.
Thank you for all the fantastic responses and for taking the time to enter this giveaway! Some of these answers were really intriguing and also extremely funny.
The winning comment painted a picture of a beautiful mother-daughter relationship, which you can read below just here! It was challenging to pick a winner, but this comment really struck me as a mother and a daughter myself. Here is the winner:
“There are many, many, many women throughout history that I’ve felt inspired by but I suppose the most inspiring women to me is my mother.
She inspires and motivates me to grow without any barriers. It seems to me that this woman looks at life as a challenge and wholeheartedly intends to seize the day every day.
She taught me what it means to love, taught me what it means to make someone happy, taught me how to give unconditionally, taught me how to respect people, taught me how to work with even tough people, and modelled for me how to achieve the highest honor in a profession.
She wakes up every morning with a big smile on her face and goes to bed with the same. Not a single complaint and always smiling. I inspire to be like her someday.
Here I would like to thank to God for giving her in my life. No amount of money I can repay for all the kindness and love that she had given for me. I shall always cherish the sweetest memories of her for as long as I live. This memories shall always remain fresh in my mind. My mother is truly a source of encouragement and inspiration. I thought this was beautiful and an amazing tribute to mothers and showed how vital and integral motherhood can be in life.

The midwife Ibu Robin Lim is a massive inspiration to me as a student midwife feeling lost and out of place in the maternity care system we have here in Australia. I am inspired by Robin’s philosophy of midwifery care the idea that we can heal humanity & the earth and create a more harmonious world through gentle childbirth is so powerful, and has reignited my passion and purpose in studying midwifery. I dream of volunteering at Bumi Sehat once I finish my course at the end of the year.

It's no surprise but my mum is a woman that truly inspires me. Having grown up in a fairly traditional Vietnamese family she put the needs of her family before herself. She raised two young women (my sister and I), took care of the household, worked hard to earn a living and put up with so so much crap in the workplace and from society and still maintained her poise and gentle heart despite what life has thrown at her. As a mother does, she teaches me daily but I'm a bad student and a little more stubborn than she'd like me to be (🙈). With two grown up daughters now my mum has a chance to finally do what she wants to and I'll hopefully be able to help her find herself after all these years of being a loving mother. @picobecollection ❤️

A woman who inspires me the most. Would of course be my mom. She works her butt off for the family even after we lost our business last summer, and she does miraculous things that she doesn’t need to do, but she does them cause that’s what mom’s do.
I love her very much cause she truly cares for all five of us, she puts us first even if we don’t have the money for it. She always finds some sort of way to help us and entertain or make us happy. I can’t lie, it’s been a struggle for a whole year now, since we’re unable to get jobs, so we would be majorly grateful for this giveaway.
